12pm-I’m at my mom’s for a few more days. I’m not listening to music and I don’t have the tv on. There is a lovely breeze because all the windows are open, and I can hear the neighbors playing Rock Band and coming and going in their cars. I want very much to nap, but can’t.
Went to Great Balls of Yarn in Stuart. Pretty store with nice people. I missed their monthly knit night though. *weeps*

i’m waiting for my tired to kick in, so i’m ‘blogging’ – if you’d like to call it that. i think knitting is saving my sanity, one stitch at a time. knitting, television, and twitter. i keep saying that i didn’t “get” twitter – until one day, i did. there is something about the immediacy of the communication, combined with the rather freeing inability to type more than 140 characters. i’ve had a twitter for a while now, but only recently have i really started using it. i live in a little town, and there aren’t a whole heck of a lot of like-minded folk floating around – so finding a way to connect with people and “watch” and comment on a favorite program, or exchange knitting patterns, or talk about our issues that we struggle with on a daily basis – all of these things are good for me.
and i’m really gonna try to keep it up.
for when i don’t really want to write much of anything, i have a tumblr blog. the feed for it is over there in the sidebar. i’m going to try not to overlap content. this new format allows for quick posting, and i’ll probably post less about my knitting over there. this thing is all one giant experiment. life, i mean.
goodnight blogland. my snoring dog, she awaits my snuggles.

Greetings blogfolk.
I don’t have much to say at the moment, so I am going to let the knitting speak for itself.
And remember how I mentioned I was cataloging my sock yarn.I finished.
Here are the stats for the Lime-n-Violet 2009 Sock Marathon.
- Skeins of sock yarn: 38.
- Yards of sock yarn: 19,870
- Miles of sock yarn: 11.29
It’s not quite a half marathon, and way more than I’ll be able to knit by September 1. My goal is 8 pairs of socks, or a total of approximately 3,680 yards, which equals 11,040 feet.
Let’s harken back to school. 1 mile =5280 feet. Therefore 11,040 /5280 = 2.09 miles.
With any luck I’ll also find time to knit the Jaywalker sock-inspired Chevron Scarf since I couldn’t make the Jaywalkers fit my feet without applying a belt sander.
Wish me luck!
Oh, and something else that came to my attention today, thanks to twitter, is the shady church that American Idol constestant and early front-runner Danny Gokey attends. *shudder* I’ve never been a huge fan of organized religion in general, but the whole culture of pastors as pseudo-deities/ celebrities who own flashy cars and wear expensive clothes makes me nauseous. Maybe it’s because I was briefly raised Catholic. There’s something about a vow of poverty that I can get behind. If your god is going to work through you, do you need to let him do it while driving a Cadillac Escalade. I think not.

Finished the knitting on this in march of last year. Blocked it yesterday. I know nothing of this procrastination of which you speak.

Today is fun because Internet is down at home because some large company doesn’t have record that November bill was paid. Funny how the TV never got shut off. Idiots. So I’m in the library sucking up my share of free wi-fi like a placostamus. Google it.
Oh and I cast on for an actual pair of toe up socks. Fear me.

I’m taking the plunge and starting the Lime & Violet sock yarn marathon. I’m a little behind as it started on the first, but I think it’s not too late. I’m going to be taking a picture of all of my sock yarn stash, calculating how many miles I have, then deciding on an amount to knit up by September 1st. All of this will be documented here so that I have something to write about.
Oh, and the sock toe? Frogged, as I couldn’t abide the holes in my increases, or the yarn on wooden needles. It’ll probably be a Baby Surprise Jacket as I’d originally intended.

Well gee whiz! Look who finally grew a pair and attempted to learn how to do a provisional cast-on so that she could do super-cool toe-up socks. Many thanks to Wendy, who is made of epic win.

I’m trying to figure out what socks to knit for my mom. I’m thinking something challenging, but not mind-numbingly so. Suggestions are welcome.
